Fall 2020: Ayurvedic Cooking for Seasons and Doshic Balance

In Ayurvedic Cooking for Seasons and Doshic Balance, students will learn the theory of seasonal and panchakarma diets, culinary herbs and spices as well as foods and their preparation priorities, helpful for daily and seasonal balancing, and clients undergoing panchakarma therapy. The instructor includes stories, forgotten knowledge and insights to deepen even a seasoned Ayurvedic’s education.

Some of the topics covered under this course are:

  • Theory of seasonal diets as per Ayurveda
  • Effects of culinary herbs, spices, foods, and how different dishes are prepared.
  • Seasonal guidelines for balancing daily life and for client support.
  • Theory and preparation, keys for Panchakarma diets; it is definitely not just about khichari.

In kitchen setting, students will learn to cook traditional dishes helpful for daily and seasonal balancing. Prepare and enjoy delicious recipes with variations to promote health for each dosha, the state of our digestive fire, accumulated wastes, and other factors affecting our vitality, immunity, and happiness. Learn how certain foods and seasonings are preferred through the changes of the seasons and their influence on our mind and emotions. Students will also learn recipes for the Ayurvedic cleansing approaches called panchakarma.

Traditional Ayurvedic cooking methods and recipes demonstrate how we can care for ourselves, family and clients choosing wisely from the world food sources.

Note: If a student is enrolled in the Ayurvedic Practitioner or Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner Program, the tuition fee for this class is included.
